Astrology Hub: Complete Library of Tools and Guides

TL;DR: This hub organizes every piece of astrology content on Nex Tools. Our astrology coverage includes 12 zodiac sign pages, 12 moon sign pages, rising sign content, the Big 6 placement framework, birth chart reading, Saturn return guidance for 2026, Mercury retrograde dates, lunar nodes (North Node/South Node), and free calculator tools. We draw on evolutionary astrology (Forrest), psychological astrology (Greene), and classical Hellenistic (George).

Astrology is the oldest of the divinatory systems in Nex Tools coverage, with roots in Mesopotamia reaching back more than 4,000 years. The modern Western tradition we cover draws on multiple schools: Hellenistic astrology (classical, revived by Demetra George and others), psychological astrology (Liz Greene, Stephen Arroyo), evolutionary astrology (Steven Forrest, Jeff Green), and modern popular astrology (the broader ecosystem of horoscope columns and social media astrology). Each school emphasizes different elements of the same underlying system.

This hub gives you the complete Nex Tools astrology library organized by subtopic. Whether you want to read about your Sun sign, understand your full birth chart, or navigate a specific transit like Saturn return or Mercury retrograde, navigate from here.

What Astrology Is

Astrology studies the relationship between celestial positions and human experience. Your birth chart is a map of where the Sun, Moon, and planets were positioned in the sky at the exact moment of your birth, interpreted as a snapshot of energetic influences present at your first breath. Transits are the ongoing movements of the same celestial bodies, interpreted as changing influences across your life.

Scientifically, peer-reviewed research does not support astrology as a predictive system for individual events. However, the framework is widely used as a contemplative tool for self-reflection, relationship navigation, and timing decisions. Our coverage treats astrology as a psychological and symbolic system useful for reflection, rather than as a deterministic predictor.

Rising Signs

Your Rising sign (Ascendant) is the sign that was ascending on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth. It represents how you appear to others and your life energy's entry point into the world. Rising sign coverage is expanding - dedicated per-sign pages are being published as part of our 2026 expansion. Check back for complete coverage.

The Big 6 Placement System

The Big 6 is the functional core of a birth chart reading. Beyond Sun, Moon, and Rising (the Big 3), the Big 6 adds Mercury (thinking), Venus (loving), and Mars (acting). These three additional placements reveal how you actually function day to day rather than just who you are.

Birth Chart Reading

Reading your birth chart beyond the Big 6 involves understanding the 12 houses (life areas), the 10 planets, and the 5 major aspects between them. Our beginner coverage gives you a structured learning path.

Transits: Saturn Return, Mercury Retrograde, Nodes

Transits are the ongoing movements of celestial bodies that interact with your natal chart over time. The most impactful transits in any life include Saturn return (ages 28-30, 58-60), Mercury retrograde (3-4 times per year), and nodal axis changes (every 18-19 months).

Saturn Return 2026

Saturn moves from Pisces into Aries in May 2025 and remains through early 2028. If you were born with Saturn in Pisces (~1993-1996 or ~1964-1967) or Saturn in Aries (~1996-1999 or ~1967-1969), your Saturn return is active now.

Mercury Retrograde 2026

Mercury goes retrograde three times in 2026: February 25 to March 20 (Pisces), June 29 to July 23 (Cancer and Leo), October 24 to November 13 (Scorpio).

Lunar Nodes (North Node and South Node)

The 2026 nodal axis is Pisces (North) and Virgo (South). This configuration emphasizes collective themes of compassion and intuition over perfectionism and over-analysis.

Astrology and Other Frameworks

Astrology layers productively with other frameworks:

  • Astrology + Numerology. Your Sun sign and Life Path number describe complementary aspects of identity. A Sun Leo with Life Path 3 is a different expression than a Sun Leo with Life Path 7. See our Numerology Hub.
  • Astrology + Human Design. HD builds on astrological foundations - your HD chart encodes the same birth moment data that astrology uses. See our Human Design Hub.
  • Astrology + Moon Phases. Transits through specific moon phases produce specific themes. See our moon phase rituals guide.
  • Astrology + Tarot. The 22 Major Arcana tarot cards correspond to astrological and Kabbalistic symbolism. See our tarot coverage linked from the Wellness Hub.

Research and Editorial Context

  • Liz Greene - "Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil" (1976/2011) for psychological astrology.
  • Stephen Arroyo - "Astrology, Psychology, and the Four Elements" (1975) for elemental framework.
  • Demetra George - "Ancient Astrology in Theory and Practice" (2019) for Hellenistic revival.
  • Chani Nicholas - "You Were Born for This" (2020) for accessible modern interpretation.
