What is a Human Design Bodygraph?
A Human Design bodygraph is your energetic blueprint - a visual map calculated from your exact birth date, time and location. Unlike a simple personality quiz, it uses real astronomical data (planetary positions at the moment of your birth) mapped onto the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching to reveal your unique energetic configuration.
The bodygraph shows 9 energy centers (similar to chakras), 36 channels connecting them, and 64 gates. When a planet activates a gate at the moment of your birth, it "turns on" that gate. When both gates of a channel are activated, the channel becomes defined - connecting two centers and creating a consistent flow of energy.
How This Calculator Works
This calculator uses astronomical algorithms to compute the exact positions of 13 celestial bodies (Sun, Earth, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, North Node and South Node) at two moments:
- Personality (conscious) - calculated from your birth moment. Shown in black on the chart.
- Design (unconscious) - calculated from approximately 88 days before birth (when the Sun was 88 degrees behind its birth position). Shown in red on the chart.
Each planetary position maps to one of the 64 gates and 6 lines within that gate. Together, these 26 activations (13 planets x 2 calculations) determine your complete chart.
The 5 Human Design Types
Generator (about 37% of population)
Generators have a defined Sacral center - a powerful motor that gives them sustainable, consistent energy for work they love. Their strategy is to wait to respond rather than initiating. When Generators follow their gut response (sacral authority), they find deep satisfaction.
Manifesting Generator (about 33%)
Manifesting Generators have a defined Sacral AND a motor connected to the Throat center. They combine sustainable energy with the ability to initiate and manifest. Fast, efficient multi-taskers who skip steps and find shortcuts. Strategy: wait to respond, then inform.
Projector (about 20%)
Projectors have an undefined Sacral center and no motor-to-Throat connection. They are natural guides and managers who see others deeply. Strategy: wait for the invitation. When recognized, Projectors experience success.
Manifestor (about 8%)
Manifestors have an undefined Sacral but DO have a motor connected to the Throat center. They are the initiators and trailblazers. Strategy: inform before acting. When Manifestors inform, they find peace.
Reflector (about 1%)
Reflectors have NO defined centers at all. They mirror and amplify the energy around them. Strategy: wait a full lunar cycle (28 days) before major decisions.

FAQ
How accurate is this calculator?
This calculator uses the same astronomical algorithms (based on JPL planetary data and Jean Meeus' methods) used by professional astrology software. Planetary positions are accurate to within a fraction of a degree, which is sufficient for determining gates and lines in Human Design. For the absolute highest precision, cross-reference with professional HD software that uses the Swiss Ephemeris.
Why is my exact birth time so important?
The Moon moves about 12 degrees per day, which means it changes gates roughly every 11 hours and changes lines every 2 hours. Even faster-moving planets like Mercury can shift your chart within hours. Your profile, some gates, and potentially your authority can all change with a birth time difference of just an hour or two.
What is the difference between Personality and Design?
Your Personality calculation (black in the chart) represents what you are conscious of - traits you can recognize in yourself. Your Design calculation (red in the chart) is drawn from about 88 days before birth and represents your unconscious, genetic inheritance - what others see in you but you may not recognize. Together they create your complete design.
